Cycle 2024, No. 13: The Wall, 2024

Cycle 2024, No. 13, The Wall.jpg

Description: The canvas is completely covered in wood pieces, making it resemble a wall. In the top left corner is a wood window available at craft stores, the pane is painted with black acrylic with several gestural motions. Attached underneath the window are two rags covered in black acrylic. In the top right corner of the piece is a wood circle with a clock hand set, the clock hands are functional. Mounted in the bottom right of the piece is a large nail holding a Valentine's day sign.

Meaning: This piece is the thirteenth in my 2024 cycle of works based on the two artists I consider to be my greatest inspirations: Robert Rauschenberg and Emilio Vedova. This piece is more directly inspired by the tableaux created by couple Edward and Nancy Kienholz. The meaning of this specific piece is up to the viewer.

Medium: Acrylic, clock hand set, cloth rags, window, and wood on canvas

Size: 24" wide x 48" tall, not counting elements off the edge of the canvas
